Part oneWhat was really great about this project was that I learned so many stories about my grandma and grandpa that I've never heard about! It was really fun talking to my grandma about her life and I definitely feel a stronger connection to her. I tried to have the body language that I learned in class like, using good posture, nodding, agreeing and commenting on all the things my interviewee said to make myself appear really interested in that she was saying. I think that this was a celebration and strength I had in the interviewing process. I challenge I faced was actually not being as prepared for the interview as I thought I was. This caught me by surprise because going into the interview I had all these questions and follow up questions planned but while I was interviewing her I realized that I did not have enough questions prepared and a lot of the questions I did have prepared I couldn't use because our conversation went in a completely different direction . | Part twoThe next time I turn research into a piece of writing, I will remember not to waste my time transcribing an entire interview when I know i'm only going to use a small chunk of it. It was a complete waste of time in my opinion and made me miss deadlines. I ended up in my teachers office the day my writing was due completely restarting and skipping all of the steps in between interviewing and writing my piece. |
